tUnE-yArDs

Months ago I had purchased two tix to see tUnE-yArDs at the Rio in Santa Cruz on April 12. Unfortunately the day of I was too sick to attend! I was really looking forward to seeing her rock out in such a small venue. This post is in honor of a missed show and money gone. :-/

Retro Posters : Fun Decor

Rare Rave Posters from the 90s:
I just came across this site that sells rare (random) rave posters from the 90s. Some of the artwork is super cool. This type of poster would be the unique alternative to those typical mass produced art deco posters found in tons of home goods stores across the US. These go for pretty cheap too, many costing only $4. http://www.fantazia.org.uk/flyerlibrary/raveflyers.htm

Lisa Frank posters are also a fun retro alternative, described by LisaFrank.com: Lisa Frank : World of Color Poster Book
"This is it!! The ultimate gift for all Lisa Frank collectors!! We opened up our vault and are offering this book of rare, collectible posters featuring classic Lisa Frank designs from the 80’s!!"

Oh the kitschy nostalgia of Lisa Frank.

Radiohead

I got to see Radiohead LIVE in concert. Ah, they are too amazing. Some highlights (for me, personally) were 15 Step, There There, Kid A, and Ideoteque. Weird Fishes, my favorite of their songs, was not on the setlist, but alas, the night was still great!

Creators Project

On March 17 my boyfriend and I went to the Creator's Project in SF. We were super fortunate and won the free tickets through the event's lottery. We got to see Teen Daze, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and James Murphy's DJ set. In addition, there was TONS of amazing interactive art- all centered around fascinating technology and unique aesthetics inviting the viewer to take part in the work. It was an awesome time, which stimulated all of the sense. Also, Off the Grid -(a variety of local SF food trucks) - provided delicious food (fried mac and cheese squares, yum!)

Test Shoot with Jonathan and Ryan

My co-reative director Jonathan and I went out with one of our awesome production leads this semester, Ryan, to do some test shooting around campus. Our goal was to find spots that aren't necessarily recognizable so that we can use them in our BARE mag shoots this semester. We had a lot of fun exploring campus and Ryan and Jonathan made fabulous models.

Was looking at Booooooom art blog the other day and found the work of photographer Andrea Galvani. Her work is super surreal and I couldn't help but appreciate her use of balloons and be reminded of the photos I shot for BARE mags 'Lost in Art' shoot (see below). I wonder if the placement of the balloons in her work is pure randomness or was super intricate and complex, captured at just the perfect moment. hey, maybe even a combo of both. Anyway, her work is awesome.

Starfucker @ The Catalyst

Went to see Starfucker at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz a few nights ago. The show was sold out day of but my sister was a hero and hunted me down a ticket. They were really good and since it was such a small venue, we got to talk to them a bunch. (well, I personally didn't but my boyfriend and friend did...They even gave them an Animal Super Species napkin to market their band), Good times.

They didn't play Pop Song though
