Shana Moulton
Today was my first day of Summer session classes. This session I am taking Digital Video: The Architecture of Time... We watched several different director's/artist's work today, but one artist I really enjoyed was Shana Moulton.
If you have 20 minutes watch "Whispering Pines 6,7,8"
Here: http://www.ubu.com/film/moulton_pines.html
I'm really into her psychedelic, 80s vibe. I love her sets and the totally fake environments she creates.
Other students in my class said the colors and music in this work are unbearable, but I strongly disagree- but hey, I'm into that kind of aesthetic.
Anyways, I think this video is pretty rad. Shana is also a UC Berkeley alumni.

Jan Svankmajer's Faust
Last year, a girl in my art class told me that I would love Jan Svankmajer's Faust. So, I went to Vidiots and rented it. However, I totally forgot to watch it and never returned it. 5 months later... I get a bill for $250 from Vidiots (Dnfjdskdfbs!!!) I went in there and was super nice, I offered them cookies- but still, no dice. I had to pay the $250. So now I own Jan Svankmajer's Faust and JUST NOW finally watched it (I was too angry before about spending $250 on it...)
THIS MOVIE IS TRIPPY! WOW. DEF not worth $250-- but its a visual delight if you are perhaps on mind altering substances.
Beware- it is not a scary movie but may seem scary if you are indeed on something...

Animal Super Species
Into The Strokes? Little Joy? Then YOU MUST CHECK OUT ANIMAL SUPER SPECIES!
My friend Danny Gunny started a band... Animal Super Species... (ASS).. and they are AMAZING!!!
Don't Ask Unless You Wanna Hear It is like one of my favorite songs right now... it is so great! Go Danny! (His voice is kinda amazing)

Just because-
Vampire Weekend by Vampire Weekend is probably in my top 3 favorite albums OF ALL TIME. (Discovery by Daft Punk and Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective also are in there) A-Punk is my post played song on iTunes (3 of my friends have it as their ringtone for me when I call) and I probably listen to multiple songs on this album EVERY DAY. I LOVE VAMPIRE WEEKEND. I still meet people that are unaware of their greatness- this album is fantassssttticcccccc. Their lyrics and instruments are so rad
Dirty Projectors
My friend has a record player and has the Dirty Projectors on vinyl -- she played them for me the other day and I was pretty impressed! Their whole album is fantastic in it's entirety... very cohesive, and fluid (like VW by VW)
Panda Bear Solo
Panda Bear, my favorite member of Animal Collective, just released his new solo album. I'm really into "Slow Motion". His solo work is equally as awesome/experimental/trippy as Animal Collectives. Got to see him live at FYF in LA last year- :D
"So they say practice makes you perfect
So they say you can't teach an old dog
So they say have an apple a day
So they say better safe than sorry
Everyone knows what they always say
And when I slow it down
It's clear just how
It's what they don't say
That's what counts
It's counting
And be sure it counts"
